Apple Corps, the corporate incarnation of The Beatles, were never happy with the similarly named upstart Apple Computer. An early round of legal fighting ended with the computer company agreeing to avoid the music business. But then music and computers started to converge, and The Beatles sued Apple again in the late 1980s. Former Apple guy Jim Reekes has been telling the story for years of how he poked a finger in the eye of legal correctness with the Sosumi sound. An old Boing Boing entry has the story on Sosumi. And by the way, Jim also made various Mac startup sounds, so when you see WALL-E, you can hear more of Jim's work.
