Last night when I groggily returned my MacBook Pro to its desk, I apparently forgot to plug in the power cord. So this morning, I found the battery drained. Knowing (hoping) that Safe Sleep would protect me from myself, I plugged in the power cord and pressed the power button. The hazy Safe Sleep-generated screen image showed me that the battery had died at 4:10 AM, right in the middle of my nightly Super Duper backup. Hmm.
As the computer rubbed sand from its eyes and woke up, it realized that it was running a backup, and it picked up right where it left off, completing the backup a few minutes later. Everything else was working fine, too.
Thanks, Safe Sleep!
