This is the age of instant info-gratification. News, pictures, and sounds spread around the world at the speed of Internet. Secrets are hard to keep. And everybody wants to know everything about big movies like Star Wars III RIGHT NOW (usually so they can complain about how tragically lousy it is).
I guess I'm really old-fashioned about this. When I see a movie, I give myself over to the filmmakers and the world they create. The less I know about the movie before I see it, the happier I am. I hate trailers that give away the plot in advance, and I avoid sites that analyze the movie frame by frame before it even opens. That's not entertainment -- it's forensic analysis.
As long as I'm being the cranky old man here, I'll add how much I'm bugged by movie reviews and reviewers who focus their comments outside the universe of the movie. When I'm watching a movie, I'm not interested in thinking about how the star's last marriage turned out, how much money anybody is making, or what stupid behavior the director has been reportedly engaging in. I'm watching the movie.
Anybody else?

Fully agree. As a formal spoiler-junkie, I've actually had to stop reading spoilers.

I've hated spoilers for a long time, and the worst is when a friend asks you if you've seen a movie, and you don't remember the movie. Then they say: "You know the one where ___" And you say: "No, but I guess now I don't need to!" I even made up a game to see how simple you could make your spoilers to ruin a whole movie. Diane has expanded on it and I think has it posted at http://www.nobody-knows-anything.com/spoilers.html

Personally I think we all should open our Christmas presents on the previous Easter. That would yield eight months of "post-Christmas" sales and get the Christmas shopping season off with a bang on New Year's Eve.

I probably hate spoilers more than most, since I don't like movie theaters much, and tend to watch my movies on DVD in the comfort of my own home. Fortunately, most of my friends know this and generally just tell me things like "you'll like this one".
